Is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar worth it? Umm, yes! A thousand times yes! I love this palette so much; the quality of the eye shadows is outstanding and all the colors go together beautifully.
If you’re new to makeup and want a one-and-done palette that hits all the high points -quality, blends like a dream, neutral tones, lots of combinations – then I think this palette is your guy. If you are curious about playing with color then Candied Violet is a great way to dip your toe into the colorful eye shadow world. Just put a little on your lower lash line for a fun pop of color!
I love that Too Faced gives you a larger pan of the all-over color like White Chocolate and your highlight shade in Champagne Truffle. There are 6 matte shades and 10 shimmer shades. The palette is priced at $49 which is pretty pricey, but a palette of this size will last you a number of years. Before this palette I always used my Naked and Naked 2 palettes, but after I got this one I have all but stopped reaching for those.
First row: Gilded Ganache, White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Black Forest Truffle, and Triple Fudge (Triple Fudge is the one shadow that I can’t make work. At first glance it looks like a rich beautiful chocolate but it goes on patchy and disappointingly.)
Second Row: Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-Sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, and Amaretto
Third Row: Hazelnut, Creme Brûlée, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, and Champagne Truffle
Of all the shadows Candied Violet, Black Forest Truffle, and Gilded Ganache have always been troublesome to work with for me. They swatch well with your finger but when you go in with a brush they go on patchy. They have a lot of micro glitter in them which I believe makes them a little tricky to work with, but there is an easy remedy! Just spritz your brush with something like Mac Fix+ or eye drops before you dip into the shadow and it will instantly enhance the color and make it more long-lasting.
As you can see in the above picture I put swatches of each of the colors, the left being the color with a dry brush and the right being the dampened brush swatch. It’s amazing the difference it makes!
