As I began nearing the end of my last concealer I decided to try and find a good inexpensive option to replace my Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer that would hopefully be just as good at half the price. I hadn’t heard much about the Morphe concealers, which they released earlier this year, but I decided to give them a shot since they were only $4.99.
Long story short: Don’t waste your money. I really don’t like to give something a bad review, but I tried again and again to get this to work and I just couldn’t.
It has a very thick consistency as you can see on the wand. Most concealers I’ve used that were in a tube with a doe foot applicator like this generally have a thinner, cream-like consistency.
When I attempted to blend it out under my eyes, it feels almost like a cream to powder formula but it ends up looking cakey and dry under my eyes. I have tried blending it with my fingers, a brush, and a damp beauty sponge to remedy the problem but I get the same results with each application method.
On the right I’m wearing the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and you can see a big difference in how the two concealers sit on my skin. The right side looks so much smoother, whereas the left looks a bit textured and packed on even though I used comparable amounts of each product and blended them out the same.
It creases quite quickly, which really isn’t much of a deal breaker to me as I have yet to find a concealer that doesn’t crease. I always set my under eye with a setting powder, but it will still crease with the powder on top of it, and even though I use a sheer layer of powder it makes the concealer look even more cakey and dry.
The coverage is great, but the finish is something that I can’t live with. I’m hoping I got a bad batch and that this was just a fluke, because I haven’t heard any bad reviews on it and they are almost always sold out on the Morphe website, which leads me to assume they’re a hot ticket item.
