Travel Makeup

I don’t know about you, but I am a chronic over-packer. I’m one of those ladies who likes to have my options. And by options I mean at least 6 pairs of shoes for a weekend trip, because I’m not sure what mood I’ll be in when I’m ready to pick out some shoes on the trip. This problem extends to my makeup as well. I have been known to pack 4 eyeshadow palettes for a quick trip, I’m not gonna lie. For the sake of my sanity, and my back, I’m trying to pack much lighter these days! Especially with having to pack for my girls, I’ve got to cut back wherever I possibly can. If you’ve never traveled with kids, then I don’t know if you understand the sheer magnitude of crap lovely children’s things you have to bring for kids. Diapers, pull-ups, so many shoes, extra outfits for the inevitable messes, and then extra outfits for the extras for the additional messes, toys, etc… It looks like we’re moving every time we take a short trip. I digress.

Here is my severely restrained collection of makeup I pack to travel lightly. This is probably still too much for some, but I felt like I did pretty well. I got this bag as a Lancome “free” gift, as in free if you spend at least $35, when I was a teenager.

I made this travel makeup brush case that I can easily roll up and tuck into my bag and I packed a handful of face and eye brushes. I’ll talk about my favorite brushes in another post, so I won’t go into detail here.

I like to have a variety of lip options, so I covered the spectrum of neutrals to bright lippies. The first three are Colourpop: Ultra Satin in Echo Park, Ultra Matte in Lumiere 2, and Ultra Satin in The Rabbit. The last is my Too Faced Melted lipstick in Melted Melon. You can see swatches of all of these except Lumiere 2 in this post.

For the face I pack a highlight, blush/bronzer, liquid bronzer, setting powder, primer, setting spray, and my booklet with a range of bronzers. I love to use my Dew the Hoola as an all-over face color. My Benefit Porefessional is my absolute favorite face primer!

This is my highlighter baby: Becca x Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop. Enough said. I just don’t leave home without it. If you haven’t seen it in person, just go to your nearest Sephora and swatch it. It’s magical!

I love this Laura Geller blush in Sunswept! It adds the perfect bronzy glow. It is very pigmented, so I have to be careful when I apply it, just FYI.

This Too Faced Book of Bronzers is amazing! You get to sample all of their amazing bronzing products, plus a blush and blush/highlight. I am a sample girl at heart, because it’s just not that often that you use up an entire pan of bronzer or contour powder. At least I don’t!

For the eyes I pack what is, for me, the bare necessities. I bring an eye primer, under eye corrector, concealer, brow pencil, eyeshadow palette, brow highlighter, mascara, gel eyeliner, clear brow gel, and my favorite Colourpop shadow in Puppy Love. I feel like you just can’t go wrong with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette! They knew their target demographic when they made the thing smell like chocolate. Done! Sold! Give me three already!

You may have noticed that I don’t have a foundation. If I’m not planning on going to any fancy event it’s just easier for me to use concealer to cover up any spots I may have. Plus, if your highlight is shining to the heavens, no one is going to notice that zit 😉

I hope you found this enjoyable and not completely boring. When it comes to makeup, I find nothing boring, so I hope you are the same way! Have a wonderful week!

Here is a detailed list of the products I mentioned:
