I have a seriously invested interest in makeup. It’s bad. Just ask my husband! It’s something I simply have a lot of fun playing with and coming up with different looks, and practicing that perfect cat eye over and over; which can be like cleaning your house with children around – impossible.
On most days I try to keep my eye makeup fairly basic, so this is a look I tend to do quite often. I always punch up my lip color when I don’t have a lot of color or eyeliner going on. I know this lipstick won’t be for everyone but I have been digging bright pinks for spring! I think they work very well for blue eyes, but they are fun for anyone! I used to be scared to wear any bright colors. It’s not that I thought I would look bad in it, because I loved reds and bright pinks on other people. I simply had to push myself out of my comfort zone and realize that it’s just makeup and it washes right off if I’m not comfortable with it. Plain and simple!
Here’s what I did:
I used my Milani Prime Shield in Mattifying and Pore-Minimizing all over to prime my face and then combined my Revlon Colorstay for normal/dry skin in 200 Nude and my Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation in Light Neutral on the back of my hand. I mixed them at a 1:1 ratio, dabbed it on my face and blended out with a dense face brush.
Then I applied my Benefit Dew the Hoola liquid bronzer all over my face and down my neck a bit, making sure it was blended out well. I love this stuff so much! It adds such a nice wash of color, like you got a nice tan over the weekend and it’s not shimmery so you’re not just slathering straight glitter all over your face and wondering how your 4 year old’s glitter exploded and ruined your makeup. Anyone? Just me?
Next, I applied my Lancome Miracle CC Cushion in Pinky Peach to cancel my dark circles and then used my Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer in light neutral, blending it out with my damp Real Techniques sponge. Then I set my under eye area with the Tarte Smooth Operator finishing powder to prevent creasing.
To finish up the face I lightly contoured using my Too Faced Dark Chocolate Soleil bronzer, applied Mac’s Spellbinder blush to my cheeks, and highlighted the tops of my cheekbones with Becca’s Champagne Pop. Now here’s when I don’t mind slapping some glow on my face! It’s not like glitter-gone-wild though. The Becca highlighters have a very beautiful finely milled texture and they go on smoothly and blend out well.
Now to move on to the eyes! I applied the Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later eye shadow primer all over my lids and then blended out a little of my Urban Decay concealer that I used earlier to cover any veins on the eyelid. I used the Milani eyeshadow in Bella Champagne in my crease and then put Colourpop’s super shock shadow in Puppy Love all over my lid.
Then I finished up the eye with this Estee Lauder Sumptuous mascara…
But have no fear! Wait for the mascara to dry and then swipe it away with a clean dry Q-tip and it’s like it never happened! That has been one of the handiest little tips I’ve ever picked up.
Next, I filled in my brows using the Colourpop Brow Pencil in Dope Taupe and set the brows in place with the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel. It’s like super glue for your brows, so if your eyebrows like to wander around your face like little annoying jerks pick up some of this! You won’t regret it. Then I highlighted the brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes with the Benefit High Brow.
Now for my favorite part! I used the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi.
Last but not least, I set my whole look with the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, which is imperative on hot days for keeping everything where you put it in the first place.
As I finished typing this I wish I hadn’t worn so much makeup. It sounds like way more when you’re typing it out though! I swear it’s not so bad. At least, that’s what I like to tell myself. Obviously, a full face everyday is totally not necessary. I am still hunting for a good BB or CC cream or a tinted moisturizer for days when I want to keep the face on the easy side. But this eye look is about as easy as they come! I hope you enjoyed this look!
Do you have any recommendations for a CC or BB cream or tinted moisturizer? I would love to find a good one!
