Last night we had a stay-in dinner date for Valentines. I wanted to surprise my man with some of his favorite dishes this Valentines and just spoil him a bit. I was so excited getting everything ready for him and surprising him with it when he walked through the door. I got all dressed up in a dress, heels and everything to try and make it extra special! I wanted him to ask me where we were going when he saw me so I could tell him it was just for him and I succeeded! Booyah! It’s just fun to do special little things like that every once in a while.
For the main course of the evening we had Moroccan chicken, bacon-wrapped green beans, and oven-baked potatoes.
Just feast your eyes on all of that!
I prepared the potatoes by poking them full of holes, adding salt and pepper and olive oil, and then wrapping them in foil. I baked them in a 425 F oven for roughly an hour. It just depends on the size of the potato on how long they need to go. It’s faster to do them in the microwave, but I wanted to make them especially good and there’s nothing quite like a piping hot oven baked potato!
The bacon wrapped green beans are as easy as they look. I just got some good thick cut slices of bacon, cut them in half, and wrapped a small bundle of fresh green beans together, laying the folded side down. Bake for about 20-30 minutes at about 400 F. I threw these in with the potatoes and they crisped up pretty fast.
For dessert we had angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream, one of my hubby’s absolute favorite desserts which is saying something since he loves anything and everything sweet! Thankfully for me, it was also a decently low calorie dessert at about 140 calories per loaf pan slice. Not too shabby!
My hubby loved every bit of it like I had hoped he would. He asked what he could do for me for Valentines, so we caught up on The Bachelor (oh, it’s such a guilty pleasure!) and I asked him to do the dishes. Score!
Hope everyone else had a fantastic Valentines as well. Let’s not forget to do random things to show our love the rest of the year too! Have a blessed day everyone!
