Buttermilk Wheat Bread

This is such a good soft bread and man is it good fresh out of the bread machine! Now, I got my bread machine at Goodwill for a grand total of $5.99! I did have to order the kneading blade which came to $18, but $24 for a bread machine is a dang good deal.

Buttermilk Wheat Bread

  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast

Place all ingredients in your bread machine in the order above. Put your machine on the basic white bread setting. Check it after about 10 minutes to see if its too sticky or too dry and add flour or a splash of buttermilk accordingly. Then let that baby go to town while you go about your business. Fresh bread is dangerous stuff around my house, but we somehow manage to save some for sandwiches.
