My bookshelves used to be littered with so many unused cookbooks. I was getting so sick of all these books lying around, but I didn’t want to get rid of them because I might use a few recipes out of them here and there. So here was my solution!
Yes! This is my recipe binder and now I have all the recipes I want under one cover. I got fed up with the cookbook clutter one day and came up with this brilliant (in my head at least) solution. I scoured through each of the cookbooks I had somehow accumulated over the years for recipes I thought I would like to try. Then I wrote down the page number for each recipe I liked. After I had finished looking through each cookbook, I went to my printer and made a copy of each recipe I had written down. Once I had finished looking through and copying what recipes I wanted from each cookbook, I loaded those suckers up and took them down to Goodwill. Byebye clutter! I further organized my binder with these little erasable dividers
They’re not the cutest things in the world, but they get the job done! My categories are as follows: Chicken, Casseroles, Pastas, Soups/Stews, Other Meats, Breads, Desserts, and Household Recipes (these are recipes for household cleaners, DIY laundry soap, and other things like that). There may be a better way to organize these, but this is what has been working for me. I keep recipes I haven’t tried yet in one of the pockets of the binder and then file them appropriately if we like it or trash it if we don’t. I also keep take-out menus in the binder pockets.
